Whether you are a Muslim or not, everyone strives to live a meaningful, fulfilling life. It is our nature as human beings to do so.
For Muslims, an important part of living such a life is following the path drawn out by the Quran. Specifically, four Surahs, or chapters, from the Quran stand out in their importance and beauty. These four are called the Quls because they all begin with the Arabic word, Qul, which beckons readers to recite them.
If you wish to learn about these Quls or are looking for ways to strengthen your faith, we ask you to please read on!
- Surah Al-Kafirun
The very first Qul of the Quran is Surah Al-Kafirun. This Surah speaks of “Disbelievers”, atheists or people who have not accepted Islam. It details to the reader that, in the face of adversity from nonbelievers, one must hold true in their faith.
It is a message to followers of Islam to not let their faith be swayed by nonbelievers.
- Surah Al-Ikhlas
This Surah, the second Qul of the Quran, talks about the omnipotence and singularity of Allah. There is no other like Him and He will exist always and has always existed.
This Surah is so important because it supports an idea which Islam is primarily founded on the mighty oneness of Allah. He is the only divine being and he controls all.
- Surah Al-Falaq
The third Qul of the Quran, Surah Al-Falaq, is one of the most comforting and empowering Surah in all of the Quran. It details that, in Allah, any believer may seek refuge and overcome any adversity or struggle they may be facing.
It proclaims that, through Allah, one may be protected from Shaitan, the evil spirit who leads humans’ hearts astray. This is a reminder everyone should have at the ready, with a pendant necklace that reminds wearers of the four Quls. Check it out!
- Surah An-Nas
The final Qul of the Quran is Surah An-Nas, and it also happens to be the final Surah of the Quran as well. This Surah talks about the importance of taking refuge in Allah to be saved from the evils of mankind; for example, the Evil Eye.
This prayer is especially important to remember and recite because it grants you protection from all of the evils of human beings, which is quite a lot of evils. This Surah reminds believers that despite all of the suffering Man is put through by his brothers and neighbors, he may find peace and refuge in the loving embrace of Allah.
